Release Notes for December 2023

New Feature List

  • Unit Cost fields have been added to Purchase Order Lines, Item Master Records, and Serial Tracked Unit Records. If using PO Receiving, the PO order line unit cost will default automatically to each serialized unit record.
  • Logging enhancements were added for the Item Count transaction. The transaction interface was updated to identify items counted in the area selected for the current count session.
  • A new tab was added to Receive New Unit to display the receipt quantity based on the Item Code for additional reference.
  • A non-inventory item type has been added. Accessibility for using a non-inventory item type is on the maintenance transaction. You can now record parts or supplies that you don’t want to maintain inventory for against a maintenance activity. You can create a new non-inventory item on-the-fly to make entry easy.
  • An inactive flag was added for assignees. Assignee cannot be inactivated if they have items checked out or deployed to them.
  • New setting options have been added:
    • Enable/disable autocreate for item and movable container handles. When disabled, you control the entry of the Handle ID.
    • A new setting option was added for Check Out that disables the Staging Area field. Ideal for organizations that do not have staging areas defined and currently never complete moves to staging areas.
    • New team role settings have been added to turn off various grid views for users.
  • Enhancements for the Check Out Transaction:
    • Added support to allow a check out to a customer.
    • Added support to ship a saved check out reservation.
    • New logic was added for the exit of an in-progress check out transaction. When leaving without completing the check out, the user will be prompted to save as a reservation or to void the transaction. If the user voids the transaction, all selected units will be set back to available status and the reservation will be closed.
  • Enhancement to Validate Unit now supports the ability to re-count quantity-tracked items.
  • Place-In-Service templates have been added to support setting up transactional data and checklists for the Place In Service transaction. Item templates can be defined to provide additional controls over templates available to select for the transaction.
  • Serial tracked unit records now have Last Validate Date information available.
  • A new dashboard card has been added for Missing Units with a link to the corresponding grid view.
  • Shipping grid views have been moved under the Shipping section.
  • Enhancements were made for the Package Tracking module.
  • User Grid Views have been updated. System, Custodian, and View Access users will now be displayed in the Users grid. A column for user type has been added for filtering.

New User Types & Dashboards

New user types and dashboard access has been added.

Custodian User

The custodian user has items in their custody as checked out or deployed. The custodian user will now have the ability to log into a custodian dashboard to view their items. We will be adding more features including the ability to complete a validation for their items, make a request for items, and to receive items in-transit to them. The work completed for this feature offers very limited features. This user type will be offered at an additional fee once additional functionality has been added.

View Access User

The View Access user can be assigned to multiple teams. When logging into the system, they will be able to view items owned or in custody of the teams they are assigned. Other views include quantity by item master and status, and access to projects. Custom reports can also be added for View Access users.

Supporting Infrastructure Work

There was work completed in support of upcoming changes to the system scheduled to be released in the first half of 2024. These changes include:

Decoupling of Facility and Teams

Currently you can setup multiple facilities for a team. However, a team can only be associated to a single facility. For organizations that use the team concept as a department within the same facility, this can be a problem if items are tracked in the same facility and areas. To maximize flexibility in setting up the system, teams and facilities will be decoupled to offer the ability to setup a facility and assign multiple teams.

Managing Team

An additional tracking level will be added to the system with the introduction of a managing team. For organizations that want to track ownership on an organization level, the managing team logic will support who holds responsibility for managing items when they are outside of a team custody (i.e. checked out or deployed). Additional rules will be added to support more control over where items can be returned, who has access to view and interact with those items.

Lot Tracking

Logic for a new item type to support lot tracking has been added. Lot tracking support across the system will be added in Q1 2024.

Roadmap

Here is what we will be working on for features to introduce in the first half of 2024:

  • Lot Tracking item type will be offered as an option to setup in the system.
  • Work Order infrastructure for unit maintenance. This will add the option for more formality for scheduled maintenance as well as unplanned maintenance actions.
  • Validate Unit Enhancements. This will include additional logging for units not found and for serialized units found out-of-place. A structured (planned ) validation infrastructure will also be added.

We always welcome feedback and your feature requests will always be taken into consideration.
