Release Notes March 2021

New Functionality

This release adds new package tracking functionality. This supports the ability to receive packages and mail for employees or contractors with unknown contents.  Packages received can then be either picked up by the identified recipient or may be part of a delivery step. This feature included the following:

  • Package Templates and Setup Options
  • Package Tracking Grid View for receiving and delivered pieces.
  • Package Receipt Transaction with the ability to create a new recipient on-the-fly
  • Package Pick Up and Delivery transactions

Shipping Support Overhaul

To provide better reporting and flexibility, shipping support was completely overhauled in this release. Shipments had previously been classified as a virtual container to support a grouping of items staged to be shipped. This original design created some limitations. The Shipment ID has now been migrated to be handled as transactional.

Shipment templates can still be defined to support capturing different data for different types of shipments.

A Shipment ID will continue to group units to be shipped; however, the shipment ID number is tagged on each unit versus behaving like a container.  This allows the area location the unit is staged in to be variable and continue to be attached to the unit. By making this change, it then allows the ability to more easily remove a unit tagged for a shipment than previously.  This change also supports the ability to set up a shipment without requiring a customer or transfer order to be setup first.

Shipment IDs can be created at any of the following points:

  • As part of a customer or transfer order setup.
  • On Build Shipment transaction (view logic changes under Build Shipment transaction)

Except for individual units with the rule that allows direct shipment, a shipment build or an order pick against a shipment ID must be completed prior to shipping.

As part of the overhaul, the following has also been updated or added:

  • Pending Shipment Grid View
  • In-Transit Shipments
  • In Transit Unit (new grid view)
  • In-Transit Items
  • Completed Shipments (moved to a tab on transaction history)
  • Shipped Items (moved to a tab on transaction history)

Build Shipment Transaction Updates

To support the new shipping infrastructure, the Build Shipment transaction updates included:

  • Ability to ‘sweep’ picked units for an order into the shipment without requiring selecting each individual unit. (All units picked will then be tagged with the shipment ID automatically)
  • Option to select units picked to include in the shipment.
  • The ability to ‘pack’ units into a movable container as prep for shipping.
  • Option to select units to ship outside of an order infrastructure.
    • Creation of the shipment ID includes the selection of the destination.

Customer Orders and Transfer Orders should now only be used when order lines and the pick functionality will be implemented.

Shipping Transaction Updates

The build shipment step is used to identify what units (items and/or containers) are selected for shipping. Therefore, the build shipment step now becomes necessary unless shipping individual serialized units.

If there is not a Shipment ID selected at shipping, the user will select the destination for the shipment. Only serialized units (not associated with a shipment ID) can be selected to ship.  In this mode, a tracking number field will be enabled to capture the unit being shipped.

New Shipping Documents

Another version of Bill of Lading and Packing List was created.

Support for a container shipping label was added to be printed through NiceLabel. This will eventually be added to the application.

Community User Type

A new user type of ‘community user’ was added. Community users do not have any roles or assignments to the system. The community user can be recipients of packages or can have items checked out to them.

Imports

Multiple imports have been created for the system.

  • Item Master
  • Facilities/Areas
  • Projects

The user interface for importing data is on the roadmap to be added.

Integrations

  • Microsoft Dynamics GP to PanatrackerST for purchase orders.
  • PanatrackerST to Microsoft Dynamics GP for PO Receiving.

Other Updates

Put Away Transaction (Mobile)
Moved the current location tab to more accessible for the users to access.

Update Unit & View Container (Mobile)
Update the weight and dimension display layout

Projects

  • Add project location and master project to the grid view data.
  • Added logic to assign the project to a movable container at receiving when all units held have the same owner.

General UI Updates

  • Area
  • PO Receiving
  • PO entry
  • Team Layout
  • Checked Out Items Grid View
  • Project Units Grid View
  • Standardization of submit, clear, and back buttons on portal

Ownership Logic
Ability to track ownership by organization versus by team. This was added for organizations with multiple internal teams that treat the items they are tracking as owned by the organization. This setup option removed potential overhead and the issue of merging records based on ownership.

Attribute Assignments
Added drag and drop feature for assigned attribute order.
