Automated Labels Aren’t Printing

Symptom:

Your automated labels have stopped printing.

Solution:

  1. With administrator account, remote into the server hosting PanatrackerGP.
  2. On the server, open the Start menu and locate NiceLabel Automation Manager (if running NiceLabel 6, NiceLabel 2017, or NiceLabel 2019) or NiceWatch (if running NiceLabel 5).
  3. Ensure the Panatracker trigger is running if it is not:
    1. Select Open and locate the Panatracker.mis or Panatracker.misx file. Typically, this is found in C:\LabelPrinting\LabelDefinitions. The location of this file can be found on your PanatrackerGP portal’s System Settings page under Label and Report Printing Setup in the setting “Label Definitions Folder.”
  4. If the trigger IS running and the labels are still not printing, look through the Log.
    1. In Automation Manager, there is a tab at the top of the screen. In NiceWatch, this is a part of the window at the bottom.
  5. Typically, the error will be readable and direct and should be easily resolvable.
    1. One of the most common errors is “printer doesn’t exist”, which means the printer can’t be found. Ensure it is installed on the server using the name NiceLabel expects to see (the name that is called out in the error”.
    2. Another common error is “Text cannot fit into object.” In that case, there is too much text to fit in the object it is trying to print in. Take note of the object name, and the label file it is using (located at the beginning of the logged error” and open that label. Find the object name and make it bigger/longer.
