Implementing PanatrackerGP-System Requirements

Basic System Requirements

There are three install components to PanatrackerGP:

  1. Create SQL Server login account.
  2. Intranet website install using Microsoft IIS
  3. Device install on supported Android devices.

PanatrackerGP offers support to Microsoft GP2013 or higher.

The PanatrackerGP is installed on your SQL server alongside your Dynamics GP company database(s).
The server install requires:

  • Microsoft IIS
  • .NET 4.5.2 or later (included with Windows Server 2012)
  • If NiceLabel purchased – .NET 4.7.2 or later
  • Microsoft eConnect for Dynamics GP

Note: PanatrackerGP needs to be able to communicate with your GP and SQL server. It does not need to be installed on the same server as GP. PanatrackerGP does require eConnect, IIS and .NET 4.5.2 (.NET 4.7.2) to be on the server where it is installed.

The system requirements for PanatrackerGP will vary based on the number of transactions being performed simultaneously as well as the number of handhelds that will be in use. The more transactions being submitted, the more powerful of a SQL server will be needed. Typically, below is a good starting point for a server hosting ONLY PanatrackerGP and using around 10 handhelds:

  1. 1Ghz dual core processor
  2. 4 to 6 GB of RAM
  3. 100 MB of drive space

To complete transactions, PanatrackerGP is installed on a supported mobile device. Panatrack recommends devices with embedded barcode scanners. In many cases, devices that support both 1D and 2D barcode scanning are recommended.

PanatrackerGP operates on Android devices running 6.0 or newer. iOS is NOT supported and there are no plans in the future to add support for iOS. PanatrackerGP legacy solution operates on Windows Mobile devices. Windows Mobile is no longer a supported platform by Microsoft. PanatrackerGP will continue to be supported on these devices for the next few years.

Panatrack is a reseller for mobile devices. If purchasing from another source, it is critical to contact Panatrack with the device details to confirm compatibility.

Hosted Server Considerations

Most of the PanatrackerGP installs are performed on your ‘intranet’. In other words, PanatrackerGP operates on your private network within your company. If your server is in a hosted environment, there are two setup options available:

  1. A site-to-site VPN to allow communication between the handheld scanners and your GP server.
  2. An Internet Facing Deployment (IFD) that is accessible to the general internet. This requires setup by your IT or hosting service prior to the install and is typically secured using an SSL Security Certificate.

Other impact to install in a hosted environment include:

Label Printing
To support label printing, a VPN or an open and forwarded port must be setup to allow access to on-site label printers.

Performance
Network traffic can impact performance of the PanatrackerGP application.

Devices

The third part of installation, after the two servers, is of the PanatrackerGP client on each of the handheld mobile computers. The mini computers support a wide range of scanning and other features, PanatrackerGP is written to take full advantage of these features.

Panatrack operates on Android-based mobile computers running Android 6.0 or newer with limited support for version 5. Our legacy application supports handhelds running Windows Mobile or Windows Embedded Handled 5, 6.1, or 6.5.

If you have serial or lot tracked items, we strongly recommend that the scanners are 2D imagers. This will allow you to use our PanaCode. The PanaCode is a special concatenated barcode that includes both the item code and the serial/lot code in one scan.

For customers electing to source scanners from a third-party, please submit the handheld model and part numbers you intend to purchase before ordering them as Panatrack will want to confirm compatibility with PanatrackerGP.
