Convert Item

This transaction is designed to convert an item number to a different item number. The original design was to support the ability to change an item number based on the item status. For example, inventory is graded, and each grade has a different item number assignment. When the grade changes, that inventory needs to be converted to a different item number. Another example of status is items where the item number may be changed due to its condition. For example, appliances that are sold new will have one item number. If an item is scratched or dented, it may then be converted to a different item number for pricing and costing as well as inventory levels.

This transaction then creates a two-line adjustment transaction (GP Inventory Transaction Entry). One to remove the original item under the original item code; the other to add it back under a different item number.

Site
Site can be set to default based on a profile setting, otherwise selected. Both the remove and add will be recorded to the same Site.

From item
Select the original item that is currently in inventory.

From Bin
Select the bin the inventory is located.

To Item

UOM
The transaction will be completed in the item’s base unit of measure. Note that both the From and To item codes must have the same base UOM to be able to convert.

Quantity

If the item is LOT tracked, select the Lot. Corresponding setting options include:

  • Lot Assigns for Transformed Item (Originating, User Entry, GP Lot Mask Auto-Assign)
